The Finnish Seafarers' Union is planning to launch labor action that will be affecting all commercial shipping under the flag of Finland and icebreakers. The strike has been planned to start on Friday, March 1 at 10. The strike would comprise passenger cruise ships in the Baltic, i.e. ferries on lines Finland–Estonia and Finland–Sweden. Approximately 40 % of import to Finland is shipped on vessels under the flag of Finland. The participation of ice breakers will hamper foreign ships especially on the Bay of Bothnia (Oulu, Kemi, Tornio).
