Industrial workers’ strike affects transports

The strikes that have begun in the export industry on Monday December 9th have stopped many factories across Finland. In total, about one hundred thousand employees are on strike. As a result of the strikes transport volumes from the factories have decreased. Customers may incure additional costs for uncompleted distribution visits to the factories under strike and storage of goods at terminals.

The decrease in exports also affects import capacity as the transport equipment remains empty in Finland. We are investigating the possibility of shipping empty trailers from Finland and providing a solution to import customers on a case by case basis at additional costs.

The first strike on the labor dispute ends on Wednesday December 11th midnight but the strike is expected to continue after that. The negotiations will continue on Monday 16th.
