Industrial actions affect DB Schenker transports 11. - 25.03.2024

The Finnish Transport Workers’ Union AKT has issued a strike notice for two weeks of political strikes. The stevedores and some other groups of workers linked to the ports will take part in a political strike, starting on Monday, March 11, 2024 at 06.00 am and ending on Monday, March 25, 2024 at 06.00 am.

We will strive to keep our production running as much as possible even during industrial action. However, we may experience delays in our transports, and in addition, the transport time guarantee included in the DB SCHENKER | system premium product cannot be offered in either of these directions. We will prioritize products that are important to society, such as medicines and food.

Land Transport – Export and import

If the industrial action takes place, it will affect Finnish import and export transports. During the industrial action, trailers will not be loaded or unloaded from ships. Without stevedoring, the transport of trailers requires the use of a complete vehicle combination and a driver, which significantly increases costs. In the event of industrial action, exceptional arrangements and routings may require the introduction of a separate strike surcharge.

    Land Transport – Domestic

The industrial action is not expected to affect our domestic transports. The transport and distribution of liquid fuels, while covered by the industrial action, may nevertheless have an impact on transport production. We will monitor the situation throughout the industrial action.

    Ocean Freight

The industrial action will also halt the unloading and loading of containers in ports, which will delay our ocean transports. LTL Ocean Freight shipments can be exported by alternative routes.

Please contact your DB Schenker sales contact as soon as possible if you need exceptional arrangements for the transport of your LCL shipments.

Our digital tracking services are here to help you

Due to the industrial action, our customer service may experience occasional congestion on strike days. We therefore recommend using our digital services and customer service robot Betty as a priority.
