Strikes affect DB Schenker transports in Finland 2024

Political industrial action will affect DB Schenker's transport services in early February. Schenker Oy is one of the companies affected by the strike. In addition, strikes in ports and airports will affect our ocean and air freight transports.

We try to serve our customers as well as possible even in exceptional circumstances, but delays may occur, and shipments may have to be prioritized.

    Land Transport

The nationwide strike for truck industry starts on Thursday 1st of February at 0.00 and ends on Friday 2nd of February at 23.59. Terminal operation shutdown starts on Thursday 1st of February at 6.00 and ends on Saturday 3rd of February at 06.00.

We are trying to keep our production running as usual, but due to staff shortages there may be delays in transports during the strike days and at the beginning of week 6. We will prioritize the transports of pharmaceuticals, foodstuffs and other products that are important to society. Due to transport prioritization and disruptions, the DB SCHENKER system premium performance guarantee for groupage shipments and other pre-scheduled pick-ups and deliveries cannot be ensured.

Planned industrial actions will also affect import and export transports on the Swedish, German and Estonian shipping routes. Delays are expected, and we cannot guarantee delivery for all international full and part load shipments on strike days.

    Air Freight

The strike will disrupt air traffic and affect operations at Helsinki-Vantaa airport between Thursday 1st of February at 0.00 and Friday 2nd of February at 23.59. During the strike, flights may be cancelled and the handling of air cargo at airports will be slower than usual. This is expected to cause delays.

    Ocean Freight

Strike in the stevedoring sector starts on Thursday 1st of February at 6.00 and finishes on Saturday 3rd of February at 06.00. The strike covers all port operations and will cause congestion.

    Contacting our Customer Service

Due to the industrial action, our customer service may experience occasional congestion on strike days. We therefore recommend using our digital services and customer service robot Betty as a priority.
