    Celebrating the Unstoppables

    In the Celebrating the Unstoppables series we take a moment to acknowledge the work of some of our unstoppable team.

    DB SCHENKER Customer Service Manager – Contract Logistics, Australia and New Zealand, Deya Delgado, places a strong emphasis on teamwork. In her view, if she can look after her team well, they will provide the best outcomes for customers.

    Deya’s team, which consists of about 40 personnel, liaises between warehousing, transport, and the end consumer, providing invaluable support in addressing customer concerns and meeting customer needs.  

    Deya works to provide a safe environment, with education on expectations and contracts, so that team members can go on to work with and, if needed, educate the customer about these crucial aspects of the business. If the team feels comfortable and performs well, everything else falls into place.

    Jumping at new opportunities

    One of Deya’s first major operations challenges in Australia was supporting a customer with a new product launch. It was during the peak of Covid, so she was asked on a Thursday if she could jump in on Monday because the usual team was in quarantine and additional support was required. She took this as a great learning opportunity and immediately said yes. The product launch was a success. The team managed Covid expectations and responses, and achieved a positive customer experience and outcome. It was an intensive training and induction experience for Deya, which was highly valuable, and opened up a lot of doors to expand her career.

    Embracing diversity

    Deya says she really appreciates that diversity is embraced across the company. When she first came here from Venezuela 10 years ago, she was concerned that it could be challenging, but she feels that all genders, religions, ages, and cultural backgrounds are included and celebrated at DB SCHENKER, which creates a real sense of belonging.

    Supportive team

    Over more than 10 years, Deya has held a number of roles within DB SCHENKER, including Claims Officer, Risk Analyst, Operations Manager, and Customer Service Manager. She considers herself fortunate to have had highly supportive people around her in all her roles at DB SCHENKER.
