Collaboration with UN Global Compact

The United Nations Global Compact is the world's largest sustainable business initiative Our company supports the activity of this organization in Poland.

DB Schenker is a member of the Global Compact Network Poland Programme Board. This includes specialists in their fields, as well as directors and presidents of the most committed companies operating in one of the four UN Global Compact priority areas: human rights, environmental protection, workers' rights, and freedom from corruption. Our company in the Board is represented by Janusz Górski, CEO of DB Schenker North&East Europe.

We are also a partner of Global Compact Yearbook, which is a strategic report of Global Compact Poland. The document presents a map of Poland's development until 2030 based on the Sustainable Development Goals- SDGs. SDGs will help people to live better, healthier and safer in 2030, both socially, environmentally and economically. These goals were adopted by the UN General Assembly in 2015. It is national governments that are responsible for their implementation. Without business involvement, however, it will not be possible to achieve them.

Our sustainable development strategy supports the implementation of 4 selected SDG' s:

  • decent work and economic growth - in the area of economics (goal 8)

  • sustainable cities and communities - in the area of society (goal 11)

  • responsible consumption and production - carried out in three areas: economics, society and the environment (goal 12)

  • climate action - in the area of environment (goal 13)

The UN Global Compact supports and facilitates a partnership between governments, civil society, employers and the United Nations. Companies from all over the world that belong to and support UN Global Compact apply the universal principles of human rights, labour standards, environment and anti-corruption in their business strategies. Since the inauguration of the initiative in 2000 by UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, more than 13 500 members from 170 countries have joined the initiative.
