What fascinates you most about your work in IT in logistics?
I am fascinated by being organized into agile teams. It enables colleagues from business and IT to collaborate and learn from each other. We work in a global context. I find it exciting to take intercultural aspects as well as various requirements from country and regional perspectives into consideration.

What is your professional background and your career journey been like?
Fifteen years ago, I started in the branch office in Berlin as a land transport trainee. After a year in operations, I moved on to become a project manager, mainly in the area of dispatching centralization projects. In 2016, I switched to IT and took my first team lead position at STAREU Business Architects. I have been the functional Tribe Lead for more than two years and am responsible for IoT, carrier facing, and customs applications, among other things.

What was your biggest professional challenge and how did you overcome it?
I have previous experience in Land Transport but I didn’t formally study Information Technology. At the beginning, it seemed an unlikely fit for me to work in such a department. But in time, I’ve filled many important knowledge gaps and my daily routine includes teaming up with my technical Co Tribe Lead. It is an exciting journey of which I am proud!

What aspect of your current job has surprised you the most or been the most unexpected?
What surprises me most is the variety of global topics I am allowed to work on. This field is definitely not boring. The speed of digitalization is accelerating so you can always challenge yourself when it comes to new things to learn.

Why would you encourage women to take on a career in Information Technology in logistics?
The combination of IT and logistics provides a lot of opportunities. Driving a very hands-on logistics business toward digitalization is a motivating task. It’s the place to be!

Thank you, Inci, for taking time to give us some insights into your career and everyday life in the IT field. It is incredibly inspiring to see that there are different pathways into IT and that you didn't have to study IT to be successful.
