Climate-friendly options
Climate change and the need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions require changes in transportation. In the transition towards emission neutrality, renewable fuels such as HVO, biogas, and renewable electricity play a central role.
Renewable fuel option for domestic land transport
DB Schenker offers an option that provides an immediate here-and-now effect on your transport-related emissions: a solution that does not require large investments or complex adjustments. All it takes is a click when you book your transport.
With the Renewable fuel option we ensure that a low-carbon fuel, such as HVO100, biogas, or renewable electricity, is used within our Swedish transport network, corresponding to your shipment's energy needs. Calculations are made according to a carefully developed model based on the weight, distance, and vehicle type for the shipment. The process and model are continuously reviewed and verified by an independent third party.
The cost of the renewable fuel depends on your package or shipment. No shipment is too small or too large: whether it is a small single package or if we help you with your entire transport chain – it can be done with renewable fuel.
In practice, you choose this option when you book, pay a little extra for this fuel, and we take care of the rest. It couldn't be simpler.
Big impact at a small cost
The price of the option is based on the price difference between HVO100 and diesel. This makes the cost very favorable.
Offsetting option, also known as climate compensation or carbon offsetting
Offsetting is a way to compensate for greenhouse gas emissions by investing in projects that reduce emissions elsewhere.
Offsetting is about taking responsibility for the greenhouse gas emissions that the business causes by investing in climate measures in developing countries. This can include energy efficiency and renewable energy that allow us to eliminate fossil energy sources.
We collaborate with Atmosfair, which ensures that the money goes to CDM certified projects according to the UN's rules for offsetting.
For a project to be CDM-classified, it must contribute to reduced emissions that would not have been implemented without the investment. Projects must qualify through a thorough process. Project approval is done by Designated National Authorities, and the process is monitored by the UN's CDM Executive Board. Read more on Atmosfair's website.
