Update 2 – Hurricane Maria – Puerto Rico

(Miami, FL 09/20 - 10am) We would like to update our network partners and customers on the recent developments in Puerto Rico.

Hurricane Maria has knocked out power to the island's entire population of 3.5 million. We will continue to monitor the effects of Hurricane Maria and provide customer updates in the affected areas as we know more.  Our contingency plans are in place and, as always, our priorities are the safety and well-being of our team members and minimizing the effects of potential storms on service. DB Schenker will be prepared to provide service to the best of our ability in areas affected and as local conditions allow.  You can keep up-to-date with any service advisories at

Please note below updates:

For ocean freight cargo:
The Port of San Juan has ceased all operations until further notice.  We will continue to monitor closely.

For air freight cargo:
Luis Muñoz Marín Airport (SJU), Puerto Rico is currently open with limited operations as conditions allow.  The majority of the airlines are announcing the cancellation of flights Puerto Rico due to the effects of the storm. This may delay the movement of freight. We will continue to monitor closely and post updates.

Logistics Best Practices During Adverse Weather Conditions
To help avoid delays, we encourage you to contact your recipients to verify whether their location is open or able to receive deliveries before and after the storm. In the event of evacuations, shipments not delivered before the storm will be secured in one of our facilities. Delivery will be attempted when it is safe to do so.
