DB Schenker France - Helping Haiti

Starting in 2011 after the major earthquake in Port au Prince in January 2010, DB Schenker France regularly provide logistics support to two associations which are in charge of goods donation for dedicated structures like schools and orphanages in Haiti. DB Schenker France supports with pre-transport of goods to collect from different places in France and bring to the point of consolidation.

Since starting this cooperation, one full dedicated high cube container per operation is transported for free from Le Havre to Port au Prince. The shipments contributed to repair the infrastructures after the earthquake, as well as bringing food and medicines to children in schools and orphanages in emergency needs.

Between two to ten volunteers from DB Schenker lend their helping hands in each occasion to make it possible to overcome all challenges of coordination of the transports and manual loading of the various donations into the high cube container to fill up with 76 cubic meters of goods.

This operation has a big meaning and was source of a true mobilization of DB Schenker employees to participate with full involvement: we can say it is 100% successful in terms of motivation, respect of deadlines, initiatives.

Also among the entire DB Schenker team in France the wide mobilization to donate goods for children in needs continues over years with constant same high motivation and a strong will to help.
