    Job Overview

    The Director HSE US is responsible for the leadership, development and implementation of Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) policy, procedures, programs and initiatives for the US across all products including Contract Logistics, Air, Ocean and Customs Brokerage. The role is also expected to align with other HSE leadership in the region as well as support Global HSE. HSE includes health, safety and environment programs to ensure the safety of employees, those who work at the company's direction and those with whom the company interacts and environmental awareness and action as it pertains to employee health and safety.

    · Leads the US organization in identifying, executing and sustaining safe behaviors that lead to a culture of proactive safety.

    · Develops, aligns, and implements the US HSE policies, procedures, and program as well as projects, initiatives, and goals/objectives ensuring that they meet company, customer, third party and regulatory requirements.

    · Ensure that appropriate HSE tools and trainings are provided to employees and those who work at the company's direction.

    · Facilitate action and accountability as appropriate to ensure HSE program execution and compliance.

    · Effective leadership, management and development of resources responsible for HSE within the US across all products.

    · Monitors, interprets, and analyzes the impact of HSE laws, regulations, standards or regulatory initiatives and provides guidance and direction for implementing processes that ensure compliance.

    · Performs risk analysis and then ensures appropriate actions are taken to mitigate risks; informs executive and senior Management of potential risks, liabilities and required actions.

    · Directs, manages and ensures appropriate utilization and effectiveness of resources, personnel and budget for US HSE function

    · Ensures that incidents are reported and investigated by the appropriate owner, using standard accepted methodology, drives accountability for actions being implemented per the investigation to prevent reoccurrence of the incident or prevent similar incidents.

    · Utilizes leading and lagging indicator to determine trends that need to be addressed through loss prevention activities or as a means of identifying opportunities for improvement and / or institutionalizing of good safety practices. Drives needed actions based on the trend analysis.

    · Monitor and report results, facilitate action and accountability as appropriate to ensure program execution and compliance. Provide information as needed to senior and executive leadership. The individual in this position must be capable of performing all of the essential functions with or without a reasonable accommodation. Working Environment: Assignment Complexity - Work on a variety of problems and projects of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Exercise judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Accountability - Use experience and professional concepts and corporate policies and procedures to solve a wide range of difficult problems in both imaginative and practical ways. Impact of Decisions - Major impact on corporate, product and operations and fiscal health Working Relationships - Regularly interact with peers and management concerning matters of diverse scope and discretion. Scope - Work on projects problems diverse in scope. Normally receive no instructions on routine work, general instructions on new assignments.

    Requirements

    What you need to succeed (Qualifications, experience, skills, attributes)

    · This is a management leadership position. Solid leadership, organizational and analytical skills required.

    · Bachelor's degree or equivalent strongly preferred. 10-12 years of progressive experience.

    · HSE knowledge and skills required.

    · Operational knowledge preferred.

    · Must be experienced and competent dealing with OSHA and other relevant regulatory agencies.

    · Must be able to work well independently, be self-motivated, demonstrate excellent communication skills, including report writing, and speaking effectively to company personnel, customers, outside companies and government agencies to successfully achieve HSE objectives.

    · Must be able to work effectively and build the necessary relationships in matrixes organization.

    · Excellent motivation, leadership and management skills preferred.
