Turning opportunity into a career journey
Dubravka, Supervisor
When Dubravka Senkovic first stepped into the world of logistics, it wasn’t part of a grand career plan – it was a leap into the unknown.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, while working in retail, she was approached by a recruiter about a Warehouse Operative position at DB Schenker.
“I didn’t know much about logistics back then, but I was curious,” she recalls. “I went for the interview, got the job, and quickly became fascinated by the scale and complexity of the work.”
Discovering a passion for logistics
The early days were a whirlwind of new systems, methods, and processes. Learning the operations for a major customer was challenging, but Dubravka thrived on it.
Her dedication paid off – within a few years, she successfully applied for a Team Leader position and later stepped into her current role as Supervisor. “What I love most is that no two days are ever the same,” she says. “Even with the same job title, the tasks and challenges are constantly evolving. I get to work across logistics, procurement, invoicing, and customer relationships – it’s dynamic and exciting.”
A day in the life
As a supervisor, Dubravka leads a team of around 15 people. Her mornings start with checking emails and customer updates, followed by connecting with her team and managing ongoing projects.
Her role is rooted in leadership – ensuring the team feels supported, stays safe, and performs at their best.
She also completed the Aspiring Leader Programme, which gave her valuable tools to refine her leadership style.
Opportunities to grow beyond the job description
Curiosity drives Dubravka to keep learning. Recently, she’s been developing her skills in Power BI for data analysis, supported by colleagues across the business.
“What really stands out is the encouragement to go beyond your job description. I’ve been involved in projects outside my core role, from process improvements to operational strategy. It’s made my work even more fulfilling.”
Culture, Values, and Teamwork
Teamwork is central to her leadership approach. “We work as one team with one goal. Skills can be taught, but being a good team player is essential.”
Looking back – and ahead
Her proudest career moment so far? Becoming a supervisor. “It was the right time, and I felt ready. I had the support, the knowledge, and the confidence to succeed.”
She’s also proud to be a woman thriving in an industry where women are still underrepresented. “Logistics isn’t just a man’s world – I’m proof that women can grow and lead here.”
Advice for new colleagues
Her message to anyone joining DB Schenker is clear:
“Prioritise safety, aim for quality, stay curious, and never be afraid to ask questions. If you keep learning and working hard, there’s no limit to what you can achieve here.”
