Short-term Warehousing

Contract Logistics

Global. The Coronavirus pandemic has hit global supply chains with full force. Due to changing consumer behavior, stranded shipping containers are piling up in seaports with goods that can no longer be sold due to changing consumer behavior. We have taken up the challenge of meeting customer demand for additional short-term storage by going beyond our normal capacity. By implementing a digital platform, we are able to access and locate available storage space, updated daily, at each of our 794 locations in 60 countries. Contact your local DB Schenker Account Manager with your warehouse space requirements.

Japan announces state of emergency, operations will continue

On April 7, Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe announced a State of Emergency in Japan, specifically covering Tokyo and six other prefectures including Saitama, Kanagawa, Chiba, Osaka, Hyogo and Fukuoka.

We have set up a Crisis Response Team to respond to the plan as quick as end of Feb 2020 and have been working for over six weeks to ensure our staff’s safety and our overall business continuity plan.

Air and Ocean Freight: Import and Export services in Japan remain operational with no impact from the State of Emergency.

Contract Logistics: All Schenker-Seino’s Contract Logistics sites remain fully operational with appropriate employee health and safety measures set by Risk Management and HSSE in place.

Land Transport: Local transportation is not affected and in full operation.

We have imported over 80,000 additional masks this month and 650 litres of hand sanitization to support our efforts of containment across all our offices and sites. We have increased our PC inventory significantly and have further enhanced our VPN network to ensure all departments can work from home and / or set up in alternative locations to continue to support your requirements from any location in Japan.

Additional offices have been established at key locations in support of our segregation strategy, and the majority of non-operational staff are now working from home. Operations staff are working under extended flexitime to reduce social contact.

For any enquiries and support, please contact us at info.corporate@schenker-seino.co.jp or your local representative.
