Kohti yhtenäisempää ja kestävämpää maailmaa

Kaikki alkoi vuonna 1872, kun Gottfried Schenker,  Schenker & Co. -yhtiön perustaja tarjosi ensimmäiset konsolidoidut rautatiekuljetukset Pariisista Wieniin. Puolentoista vuosisadan ajan DB Schenkerin työntekijät  ovat auttaneet asiakkaitaan toimittamaan tavaroitaan kaikkialle maailmassa. Paljon on muuttunut tänä aikana, mutta yhä edelleen 72 700 työntekijämme ovat sitoutuneita  tarjoamaan asiakkailleen maailmanlaajuisia logistiikka- ja kuljetuspalveluita ja vastaamaan heidän jatkuvasti muuttuviin tarpeisiinsa.

Historia antaa meille identiteetin. Ymmärrämme paremmin, keitä olemme, mistä tulemme ja minne olemme menossa. Se auttaa luomaan tulevaisuutta. Yhtenä maailman johtavista globaalin logistiikan tarjoajista me DB Schenkerillä luomme tulevaisuutta kohottamalla kanssamme työskentelevien ihmisten elämää. Kohottaminen kattaa monenlaisia kehittäviä tekoja älyllisestä fyysiseen ja taloudellisesta moraaliseen. Meille Elevating Lives tarkoittaa itsemme kehittämistä yrityksenä, yksilöinä ja yhteisönä.

Kuinka vietämme 150-vuotisjuhlaamme

Järjestämme ympäri vuoden paikallisia tapahtumia työntekijöillemme, asiakkaillemme ja yhteistyökumppaneillemme. Painopiste on juhlavuoden hyväntekeväisyyshaasteessa, johon jokainen schenkeriläinen voi osallistua. Haasteen tavoitteena on kerätä maailmanlaajuisesti jopa 1,5 miljoonaa euroa neljälle hyväntekeväisyysjärjestölle. Olemme nimenneet tämän Leading the Way -haasteeksi. Työntekijät lataavat älypuhelimeensa sovelluksen ja ansaitsevat sillä hyväntekeväisyyteen pisteitä monien eri liikuntatehtävien ja älypelien avulla.

Innostavan yrityshaasteemme yhteydessä lahjoitamme kaikki vuoden toisen neljänneksen aikana kertyneet kilometrit Ocean Conservancy -hyväntekeväisyysjärjestölle.

Tuemme Ocean Conservancy -järjestön työtä puhtaiden ja hyvinvoivien merten hyväksi.Tarkoituksenamme on vähentää roskia ja saastetta valtameristä, suojella arktisen alueen ja Floridan kaltaisia herkkiä ekosysteemejä, edistää kestäviä ilmastoratkaisuja ja siten vähentää rannikkojen asukkaisiin ja ekosysteemeihin vaikuttavia riskejä sekä vähentää liikakalastusta ja säilyttää näin kalakantoja.

Ohjelma: Trash Free Seas®

Merten roskat vaikuttavat villieläinten, ihmisten ja paikallisten yhteisöjen terveyteen. Luonnonvaraiset eläimet voivat erehtyä pitämään vedessä ja rannikolla olevia roskia ravintonaan tai sotkeutua niihin, mistä voi olla kohtalokkaita seurauksia. Mereen päätyy vuosittain arviolta yli 11 miljoonaa tonnia muovia.

Ohjelma: Confronting Climate Change

Meri on sitonut yli 90 prosenttia ihmisen aiheuttaman ilmaston lämpenemisen aiheuttamasta lämmöstä ja noin kolmanneksen hiilidioksidipäästöistä. Erilaiset ilmastovaikutukset - kuten meren happamoituminen, merenpinnan nousu ja voimakkaammat ja useammin esiintyvät hurrikaanit - vahingoittavat rannikkojen elinkeinoja ja yhteisöjä. Ocean Conservancy työskentelee erilaisten kestävien ilmastotoimenpiteiden, kuten laivaliikenteen ja satamien päästöjen vähentämisen ja hyvin sijoitetun uusiutuvan merienergian lisäämisen puolesta.

Ocean Conservancy -järjestöstä

Ocean Conservancy perustettiin vuonna 1972, ja se pyrkii suojelemaan meriä nykypäivän suurimmilta globaaleilta haasteilta. Yhdessä kumppaneidensa kanssa he kehittävät tieteeseen perustuvia ratkaisuja terveen valtameren ja siitä riippuvaisten villieläinten ja yhteisöjen hyväksi. Ocean Conservancy kouluttaa ja rohkaisee kansalaisia toimimaan valtamerten puolesta. Ocean Conservancy tuo ihmiset yhteen arktiselta alueelta Meksikonlahdelle, jotta löytäisimme ratkaisumalleja vesiplaneetallemme. Tieteelliseen tutkimukseen perustuva työ ohjaa toimintaa ja sitouttaa ihmisiä suojelemaan merta ja sen elimistöä tuleville sukupolville.
